Design Thoughts
If you are thinking of designing an 'alternate' edge, then I (and others) think that it should have two effects.  One should be worth 1 pool and allow you to retain the edge, the other option allows you to burn the edge for a different effect.  I had this idea after I'd drafted at least one of these, but I'm more than happy to take suggestions on more Alternative Edges.  This is intended as a VTES Variation and not a change to the base rules of the game.
*I couldn't think of a balanced secondary benefit to Paranoid Edge.  The ability to fail an action is very powerful.

Replacement
Each player may choose one Power Edge and it will replace the edge of the chosen player.  This will mean that they will not be able to utilise the normal Standard Edge.

Additional Ideas
Please, draft up any additional ideas you have OR if there are particular strategies you think could do with gaining some potential extra grunt from a Power Edge please Comment Below!

  1. I really like this idea and have wanted to develop it further for a while now. To make the Paranoid edge more balanced, what if instead you tapped the minion with 5 or more capacity or life to cause a (D) action targeting that minion to fail? That would make it less about stopping bleeds and more a sort of transient Secure Haven sort of thing.

I have a whole bunch of ideas connected to this alternate edge thing, actually, some of which are inspired by the ones on the forum, some of which aren't...just not quite sure how to articulate them or template them.

I really liked the Academic Edge idea I read on the forum, or some sort of Edge dealing with the research area. The whole point being, as you have mentioned, to enhance second-tier strategies and deck types...

What about an edge designed to make *Sabbat* politics more powerful? People often complain that it seems much weaker than Camarilla (Parity Shift) and Independent (Reckless Agitation) politics. Giving people a very good reason to play Sabbat vote might therefore be a good idea...but how could such an Edge be worded? It can't be broken powerful, but it has to be powerful enough to at least be something of an incentive to choose Archbishops and Cardinals over Traditions and Parity Shift.

I'm actually not sure how to balance such a thing, though. :) The idea that I had was something like this:

    Crusader's Edge:

During your untap phase, you may gain one pool or add one counter from the blood bank to an Archbishop, Priscus, Cardinal, or Regent in your uncontrolled region.

You may burn the Edge during a referendum called by an Archbishop, Priscus, Cardinal, or Regent you control, before any votes are cast. Non-Sabbat vampires cannot vote on the current referendum.

I like this Private Audience Edge idea because not only does it give an added incentive to play Sabbat politics to the player who chooses this Edge, it also gives a bit of an incentive for others to play it as well, just to be able to vote, so it's not just Camarilla politics as usual all the time!

    What do you think?

  2. Hmm... I like the idea of propping up Sabbat Politics a bit more, but Sabbat Politics has always struck me as something violent.

    Pack Edge
In your untap you may choose a minion controlled by your prey. Your vampires may rush that minion as a +1 stealth (D) action that costs one blood.
If a minion blocks an Arcbishop, Priscus or Cardinal you control you may burn this edge and choose another Sabbat vampire. The chosen vampire enters combat with the blocking minion instead.
