Decklist: Dead Magic

**Warning** Totally untested and untried deck. I had the thought while at work today and just tinkered on ARDB to make this thing.
This is a Toolbox deck on the Wall-ish end of Toolbox. The blocking is intended to be more forward oriented, but of course all blocking ability is good defence.

  1. If you can pass the votes, they should be KRCs. Tribute could be Blood Dolls to be able to push blood onto guys. Maybe 4x Eyes, 4x OtQV? Rather than Masquer(or maybe instead of some of them), how about Bowl of Convergence and some Spectral Divination? Sargon Fragment should totally be in here. What are the Ashurs doing for you in this deck? It's not particularly combo driven, so you may want some more run of the mill type cards, or even Guardian Angel for all of those Weather Controls.

  2. I often play Ashurs as a "deck balance manager". If I'm in a combat heavy environment, then having more will be good, so the Ashurs are there to get that. Similar if I need to be reacting many times... and so on. Plus burned Masquers can be put back into my Library and I can have multiple Masquers but only 1 SuperBowl...
RE: Guardian Angel... Last time I checked Weather Control said "Unpreventable". If you're not immune, you get hurt.
Sabbat Priest is further playing into the remove blood angle I'm generally working with on this deck... that's why the Crematorium is in there (more as a side-kicker than a central plank)

  3. Why no Valerius Maior (Advanced)? He's a 7-cap with all in-clan superiors AUS DOM THA, plus inferior Necromancy. You've got enough combat to keep him safe from Red List rushes. Infernal might be annoying but you'll hopefully get him for cheap with Govern. Plus his anti-Obfuscate/Chimerstry special is ideal for a wall deck. A single copy is useful for a toolbox deck.

Also, I'd consider some Magic of the Smith along with Ivory Bow, Bowl of Convergence, maybe Heart of Nizchetus.

You could also consider using some Group 3/4 Tremere with Necromancy. Right now you have 14 cards using Necromancy (6 Trochomancy, 8 Masquer) vs 8 cards relying on Sabbat (2 Abbot, Black Forest Base, Yawp Court, 4 Sabbat Priest). Tarautas, Hector Trelane, Valois Sang, and Preston Varrick are all decent options.

You might also want to consider Sennadurek (who has no Thaumaturgy but has AUS dom NEC and a killer special). I've seen Nagaraja decks recycle Masquers with Consume the Dead. If you want more Necromancy you could also add some Shambling Hordes too.

  4. Why 2 Yasmins but no Selena?

Since you're using Weather Control and Apportations, you could also consider Ex Nihilo.

For a more forward-oriented blocking deck you might want Eagle's Sight. And maybe Smiling Jack as an added kill mechanism.

If you have space, I've found Zillah's Tears to be very useful for a Sabbat blocking deck.

Sargon Fragment and Infernal Pact are possible choices if you want more superior NEC.

  5. Thanks for the comments. Time to go away and think... might post a redraft later (or edit this one).

  6. I've had a look over some of those and I came to the conclusion that:

Ex Nihilo, while good, nerfs my ability to reclaim blood using Theft of Vitae and honestly after 2 Thefts and Weather Control for two rounds most opposing minions will be fairly low on blood and I'd be on an almost zero-sum position.

I wanted to avoid Valerious' infernal penalty. His text is awesome, but I don't know if I want to worry about his drawback. Having a 7cap out that either must play reactions to block and can't really take actions... I'm not that interested.

Also, I'm happy with just [nec] and not NEC. More thoughts later...

Just be polite... okay?
